The MJF Charitable Foundation with the support of Gourmet Foods, Poland helps nearly 200 children a year in the Siyambalanduwa region – one of the poorest areas in Sri Lanka- with their education and has seen a growth of 50% in students attending school, concentrating on their studies, and achieving better results.

The community has named the center Dhiriya (which means Strength). This centre has enabled nearly 200 students within the first year of its involvement in the area to successfully complete and get through in the subject areas they are trained.

Classes are conducted in Mathematics, Science, English, Computer (one year Diploma course for school leavers seeking jobs and 6 month certificate course for students attached to Dhiriya and who have sat for the GCE Ordinary Level Examination and awaiting results). There are sewing classes that are provided free of charge for young adults and for the mothers in the community.

The MJF Charitable Foundation will continue assisting the Dhiriya Center with an advanced method of teaching from June 2010.
