Celebrating 10 years of music that inspired change
Rukshan Perera – a composer, multi-instrumentalist and a singer of the former Super Golden Chimes who is loved by many Sri Lankans is set to perform live on Sunday, 16 February at the Bishop’s College auditorium.
A troupe of well-known local singers such as The De Lanerolle Brothers, Clifford Richards, Jananath Warakagoda, Colombo Brass Ensemble and Choro Calibre will join him on stage to bring the event to life in support of Cerebral Palsy Centres in Jaffna and Kurunegala affiliated to Dilmah’s National Centre for Cerebral Palsy and other Developmental Disorders.
Over the last decade, Rukshan has lent his voice and heart for various philanthropic endeavours. A man with many tunes and talents, Rukshan has delighted audiences around the world sharing his love and passion for music with people in need. This will be his 10th annual concert in a row since returning to Sri Lanka from the USA which will seek to raise funds to provide support for Cerebral Palsy Centres in Jaffna and Kurunegala affiliated to Dilmah’s National Centre for Cerebral Palsy and other Developmental Disorders.
In October 2016, Cerebral Palsy Lanka Foundation and Dilmah’s Merrill J. Fernando Charitable Foundation jointly opened Sri Lanka’s first centre dedicated to the promotion, research, rehabilitation and support of children and families with Cerebral Palsy (CP), Down Syndrome, Autism and other Developmental Disabilities. The National Centre for Children with Cerebral Palsy and Other Developmental Disorders (NCCCPDD) in Rajagiriya provides rehabilitation and education for children affected by a range of intellectual disabilities, but also provided training, psychological and emotional support and other resources for health professionals and caregivers.
This year’s live in concert will be a truly unique spectacle you should not miss, and Rukshan is to showcase something very special this year. Please come down, listen to a chilled mix of your favourite melodies alongside Rukshan’s magical performances while supporting a worthy cause.
