MJF Kids Programme Commences at the MJF Centre, Moratuwa
The MJF Kids programme at the MJF Centre in Moratuwa formally commenced in February 2011. The MJF Kids Moratuwa consists of children who live in the vicinity who are from urban, slum areas. Initially there were just over 30 children and now the number has grown to 50. The children are provided with daily classes in Mathematics, English and Science and are provided a space to relax and enjoy their childhood away from their home environments which are often troubled.

The MJF Kids Programme Moratuwa is one of four main projects already housed at the MJF Centre in Moratuwa. The Foundation embarked on its most ambitious project to date with the establishment of the MJF Centre in December 2009. In addition to the MJF Kids Programme, the MJF Centre houses: The Diri Piyasa Centre for Women which provides care and support for abused women, the Diri Daru Piyasa which provides care for differently able children and the Daron Curtiss Graphics Centre which provides vocational training in IT for young adults and children.
The MJF Kids Child Development programme for urban slum children aims to inspire hope and realise the potential in urban slum children despite their hopeless situation. These children gather almost daily at one of MJF Kids centres for guidance by caring teachers in art, craft, leadership and vocational training and are also assisted in their school curriculum. The children receive training in essential life skills and are provided much needed psycho-social support. In the near future, the MJF Foundation will also establish the MJF Kids Programme in the North of Sri Lanka.
