Life through Cricket Extends its reach in Moratuwa
Sunanda Upananda Vidyalaya (SUV) is one of the two schools supported by the Cricket Live programme and the MJF Charitable Foundation (MJFCF). There are 90 kids attached to this programme from SUV and through the initiative had now entered an Under 13 Cricket Team for the National Schools Cricket Tournament, making it a first in the school's short history.
-Life through Cricket' is a joint initiative between the MJF Charitable Foundation and Cricket Live Foundation (CLF), New Zealand directed at training local cricket coaches in and around Moratuwa and, through them, providing cricket coaching for underprivileged children who are keen on progressing through cricket.
The 1st match of the Sunanda Upananda Vidyalaya was played recently at the SUV ground in Moratuwa against Weera Puran Appu Maha Vidyalawa. SUV lost the match on the 1st innings by just 9 runs after having fought to the end. It was a wonderful new experience and great exposure for the school's young team.

Incidentally, it was one of the MJFCF Moratuwa Centre's children, Yashan Avishka who took 2 wickets in two balls for Weera Puran Appu Maha Vidyalaya, when SUV were 140 runs for 8 wickets, chasing 150 runs. SUV skipper Ashen Udara chipped in with a patient innings of 43 off 108 balls.
