Business is a matter of human service' - Dilmah Founder, Merrill J. Fernando in Vietnam

Fernando though in his eighties, is the Chairman of the global leading tea brand and still has much enthusiasm for social and humanitarian activities. During his week's stay in Vietnam, he spent one day visiting heart patients at Tam Duc Hospital with the Hieu Ve Trai Tim Fund and supported Bui An Phuc, a 1-year-old heart patient in Hanoi. Through Fernando's visit, Dilmah in cooperation with the Hieu Ve Ttai Tim Fund supported the cost of heart surgery for baby Phuc. A Representative of Hieu Ve Trai Tim Fund, Dao said: 'We highly value the generosity and kindness of our funders in recent times. I am also very grateful for Mr. Fernando's enthusiasm on his visit to Vietnam. With this type of donation, we have more hope in saving underprivileged children like Bui An Phuc suffering from heart disease."
Sharing the business philosophy of Dilmah, Fernando said: 'Business is a matter of human service. Therefore, we not only ensure to bring to customers a quintessentially high quality product but also want to carry the responsibility of supporting the underprivileged and differently abled. .' Thus, the MJF Charitable Foundation was established to support underprivileged people. 10% of Dilmah profits are utilised through the foundation to help support the lives of 10,000 people through 100 humanitarian projects each year.
