Voice of the MJF kids

Dear Reader,

We warmly welcome you to the inaugural issue of "voice of the MJF Kids," a publication compiled entirely by the MJF Kids. We, the MJF Kids, may not have the fortunes of most children, but like them, we too have ambitions to become doctors, teachers and successful business men and women one day. The "Voice of the MJF Kids" is an instrument to make our thoughts, our interests and our dreams heard.
We invite you to take a look at our articles, poems, short stories, paintings and photographs and hope you enjoy them as much as we enjoyed preparing them for you!

Christmas

We got Christmas because of Jesus Christ's birth. People celebrate this in the month of December. Jesus was born in the city of Bethlehem in Israel 2007 years ago on 25 th of December.
The world counts the days according to this date. People send greeting cards, make Christmas trees, cakes, make cribs, decorate gardens and houses. Christians show their generosity specially in this season, they give food, clothing, gifts to poor and needy people.






Myself My name is M R M Arafath. My birthday is 14.10.1996. I am eleven years old. My mother is M S R Ralina. My father's name is M M M Riswan. I go to Sir Baron Jayathilake Vidyalaya, Maligawatte. I walk to school from home. We live in the railway quarters, Maligawatte, Colombo 10. I am a Muslim boy. I have no brothers or sisters.




MJF Kids I am S.A. Neesha. I am 13 years old. I am studying in Gamini Vidyalaya. I can say I am lucky because I am a member of this programme. I joined PEACE programme two years ago. Now it is called MJF Kids programme. We come everyday to the Dilmah office after school. We have evening classes. Tuesday-maths, Wednesday leadership meeting, Thursday-science and Friday we have English. Monday is for special events. We learn art and craft on Saturday evening.





Trip to the zoo My name is Wazeem Rahumath, I am a member of the MJF Childrens programme. We went to the zoo last August before the school holidays. There were more than 100 friends of our Kids Group. We went with our teachers and leaders.We started the trip in the morning at 7am. We got short eats and milk for breakfast. Then we went to the planetarium at Colombo 7. There was a very valuable show about planets. We all learnt unknown things about the planets. Then we went to the zoo. It was our second time. We all were taken into the "Min Medura" first, there were hundreds of colourful fish. Mr. Reggie explained about them.
