BBC Southern Counties Radio, which broadcasts in the South of England, held an auction weekend on the 5th and 6th March, 2005 to raise money for relief projects in the Hambantota District. The appeal raised over Sterling Pounds 100,000 which will help villagers in rural Hambantota.
