BBC Southern Counties Radio
Project name: Hambantota Fisher Community
BBC Southern Counties Radio is one of the few international organizations which came forth readily to assist Sri Lankan victims of tsunami and then proceeded to deliver on every aspect of their promises. Represented by Lucy Sheppard, the radio station actively pursued its initial interest in helping the people of Hambantota, visiting the community to understand their needs and then communicating these to their listeners.
The listeners of BBC Southern Counties Radio were as generous as the team at the station, donating Sterling Pounds 100,000 towards rebuilding the lives of two fisher communities.
Thank you BBC Southern Counties Radio, and your listeners!
