Darme who received the MJFCF’s assistance to set up a little operation of manuafacturing papadam has now extended his operation, recruited new staff/workers, implimented new varities (kurakan, bites papadam) is ready to enter the market and compete with other brands that has been dominating the market.

Tharanga is an inmate at the “pilisarana” which is a center thats managed by the DS – Monaragala…. he’s got 7 more friends living with him at the center…..

warm welcome extended to jo & chris at koulara…… smiles bloomed in the faces of all the ladies at koulara made it even more special and impressive……. i should mention the comment made by jo as “unbelievable” to notice women’s discipline ……… “women with no talking at work…… withnessed for the first time”…. she said

imagine you having to cross a river to and from work, school, parties etc… carrying your belongings on your head, at the same time your cloths your wearing and wait till its dried to proceed ????? well this is what these people are going thru every single day of their lives…..  i did cross rivers for FUN ……. this is no fun…. but PAIN

30 Children who entered Grade 1 at the Tientsin Maha Vidyalaya and 33 at  Dunkeld Maha Vidyalaya Schools from the plantations in the vicinitiy of the Tea Trail Bungalows were provided with their school requirements by the MJF Foundation when the new school term commenced in 2008.

 900 children from 40 other  plantations associated with MJF also were provided with their schools needs in January 2008.
